Horses: Welsh Pony
   
The Welsh Pony is one of several similar ponies that originated in Wales. Most ponies that are called Welsh Ponies are of the Section B variety, though sometimes the Welsh Mountain Ponay (Section A) and the Welsh Pony of Cob Type (Section C) might be referred to as Welsh Ponies. Welsh-type ponies have been imported into North America since the 1880's, and today they are a popular breed of pony, especially as riding ponies for young children. It is competitive in a number of disciplines including dressage, hunter/jumper, and harness. Welsh Pony waiting to present in the Coloseum
   
Welsh Pony with thick luxurious mane It is believed that the Welsh Pony (Section B) was created by crossing the Welsh Mountain Pony with small Welsh Cobs. There is also Arabian and Barb blood behind these lovely ponies' backgrounds. They also have some Thoroughbred in their ancestry. Welsh Ponies are not to exceed 13.2 hands high, and any solid color is acceptable.
