Horses: Spanish Mustang
The Spanish Mustang is considered by breeders and owners to contain the "true" original blood of the Conquistadors' horses that came to the U.S. and later escaped to begin to roam the Americas and become known as the Mustang.

Two solid-colored Spanish Mustangs In 1925, seeing in dismay the mustangs being exterminated and be interbred with other escaped domestic horses, Robert I. Brislawn began to capture mustangs from the wild that had strong Spanish characteristics for breeding purposes. He called them Spanish Mustangs, believing that they were the only mustangs with the "true" Conquistador blood. In 1957, he established the Spanish Mustang registry, and today the Spanish Mustang continues as a separate breed of horse from other mustangs. A pinto and a grey-colored Spanish Mustangs--Spanish Mustangs can be any color, including Appaloosa colors.
