| Considered the "National Horse of Peru,"
the Peruvian Paso was created from the combination of the Spanish Jennet,
the Barb, and the Andalusian, and since has not been influenced by any infusion
from other breeds. Its gait is referred to by Peruvians as "termino,"
which is said to resemble in its front legs the smooth outward rolling of
a swimmer's arm in a crawl. The Peruvian is also possessed of a spirit called
"Brio," which makes it perform with "arrogance" and
exuberance, yet retaining its tractable temperament. |
