| I have not been able to find a great deal of information regarding
the Native Costumes as it pertains to Arabian Horses (and I've tried!).
This style of dress originated in the Middle East and South Asia, where
for centuries they have frequently dress their animals in colorful, fancy
decorations, especially during special events. |

To exhibit their horses' native origin, Arabian
owners began dressing their horses in similar costumes as in the Middle
East for parades and other show-and-tell events. In time, Arabian horse
shows incorporated the dress into a professional class called the Native
Costume. Every year hundreds of Arabian horse owners show their beautiful
Arabs in costumes at the shows and win prizes. However, most of the costumes
seen in the American shows are much more elaborate and "sparkly"
than the authentic dress that was used in the Middle East. |
